We have the perfect solution to restore your looks that are so important to you. Visit us for an assessment, and we will advise you on the most suitable dental implant treatment procedure.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a permanent replacement solution for your missing tooth. Shaped like a screw, it is surgically fitted into the jawbone below the gum line.
Delayed implant is a traditional procedure involving multiple surgeries to place an implant. It requires surgery to extract the tooth and possibly the need to perform a bone graft. The surgery is to open the gums and install the titanium rod or rods. This procedure will take time and months of healing in between surgeries.
Whereas an immediate implant is – like the name implies— when a replacement is placed soon after the tooth or teeth are extracted. The benefit is that the patient can walk out of our clinic with new teeth in place, and it helps to avoid multiple surgeries and months of healing. This procedure allows dental implants to be inserted immediately after tooth extraction, and patients will enjoy a shorter treatment duration.
Note: Choosing the correct type of implant is not straightforward. Our dental professional will assess your suitability for the kind of procedure.
Types of implants
There are three types of implants to replace damaged or missing tooth.
1. Single – For one tooth
– For multiple missing teeth that are not adjacent to each other
2. Multiple – For multiple teeth adjacent to each other
– For more than one missing tooth in a row
3. Full jaw – For all teeth

How safe is an implant?
Dental implants are very safe, and dental professionals have recommended and performed them since the 1990s. With evolving modern technologies, the procedure and the safety measure taken has improved over the years. While the implant procedure is safe, having a surgical implant is like any other surgical procedure. These risks are kept minimum when you consult government registered dental professionals.
Do implants last?
The best person to answer this question is ‘YOU’.
As long as you maintain proper dental hygiene and regularly visit our dental professionals, your implant/s will survive the test of time. In case you have forgotten: When you don’t care to brush your teeth after meals, dental plaque sets in, and if left untreated, it can lead to infection, which is not healthy for you.
Remember, it is not only for implants; even your natural teeth require proper dental care. Aftercare instructions like keeping your implant clean, which is the same as the way you take care of your natural teeth, will be given to you by our dental professional to prevent gum and other infections.
Note: An implant is somewhat like a hip or kneecap replacement; there is no lifetime guarantee.
How many implants can I have?
Once we have assessed your dental condition, we will be able to advise you on whether you need a single, multiple or complete replacement. In general, you can replace any number of teeth with implants.
Can I replace my tooth with an implant?
Our dental professional can only answer this question after conducting a CBCT scan to evaluate the condition of the bone in your jaw. If there isn’t enough bone or if the bone is unhealthy, this procedure might not benefit you unless we perform bone grafting.
Does it hurt?
Any surgery will cause discomfort.
We have a painless procedure when we inject a local anaesthetic, and it will be no more painful than a tooth extraction. Nonetheless, you will have some facial discomfort for about a week after surgery. A general anaesthetic is only used when the case is complicated, like in the case of facial injury due to a major accident.
Is it safe for an older adult?
There is no age limit for patients to have implants as long as they are healthy and our dental professional approves the procedure. Implants are safer than dentures which over time might become loose, causing unnecessary mouth injury and discomfort while eating or drinking.
Will my implant become loose?
Very rarely.
But if it happens, we will remove it and let your jaw heal before replacing it with another implant. We could also make a bridge and fit it to one of your other successful implants.
Can I remove and clean my tooth that is fitted to an implant?
Only our dental professional would be able to fit and remove your tooth attached to the implant unless you had opted for a removable denture that is attached to the implant. In this case, you will be able to remove it for cleaning.
